Elements

Elements are the building blocks of topics and maps.

Some elements can contain text. Text within an element is rendered either on a new line (block element) or on the same line as surrounding text (inline element). For example, a p (paragraph) element is a block element, whereas a b (bold) element is an inline element.

Some elements cannot contain text. They are used either to group together other elements, or to represent an entity that will be rendered as text during the publishing process (for example, the table of contents in a PDF).
