To select references within a map:

Click the reference text.

Click the reference's element tag (topicref or mapref).

Click the reference's element tag and drag up or down to select sibling references/elements.

In the element breadcrumbs, click the reference's element name (topicref or mapref).

In the element breadcrumbs, click the reference's element name (topicref or mapref) and hold down the mouse button to display a list of child references/elements, move the cursor over a child reference/element name, and release the mouse button.

Click the reference text, right-click, and click and then a reference name. The references listed in the menu are the current reference, its parent, its parent's parent, and so on. As you move the mouse pointer over the reference names in the menu, the references are highlighted in light blue within the map.
